The secret of Brotherhood
When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration, weeping [Quran: 19: 58].
A minister once told me a story about an incident of a brother whom was on post at the Temple door in a city he was visiting and the brother had such a mean expression on his face. The minister said to the brother the first night “As-Salaam Alaikum brother”. The brother grumbled back in an almost inaudible tone “Wa Alaikum salaam”. The second night the minister came in and the same brother was on the door with the same dour expression. The minister said “As-Salaam-Alaikum brother!” and the brother replied in a whisper “Wa Alaikum salaam” On the third day and the minister’s last night in town he arrived at the Temple greeted the brother with both hands, a big genuine smile, looked him in his eyes and with love said “As-Salaam-Alaikum, my brother”. The brother was so shocked he responded with a stunned “Wa-Alaikum Salaam”. Later the brother found the minister in the Temple and approached him with a big smile and said “As-Salaam-Alaikum brother Minister” and hugged his brother in Islam.
The Messenger told us to be careful with Allah’s people because they had been so damaged by this world by the time they find the truth oftentimes they are really beaten down. A man is not a Muslim we are told until he wants for his brother what he wants for himself. The Qur’an says that time was prolonged and hearts hardened. Our people have experienced a hardening of the heart through a world that has removed their sense of guilt and shame. The scholars of religion say that guilt is an internal mechanism and shame is an external mechanism. In other worlds guilt is self-imposed and shame is imposed by the disapproving eyes of a righteous community that would be offended by sinful trespass. So homosexuality has become acceptable behavior because the other moral pretenses in this society has collapsed. You could point to revealing clothes, sexual immorality in the White House, high divorce rates, filthy movies and songs or the prevalence of the internet. These are tools the devil uses to distract the original man with non-Asiatic thinking. You can never build a world if you can’t get your brain and your heart out of the gutter. So all the whiteman’s models of so-called manhood imitate a false sense of machismo and bravado that prevents our people from practicing humility and repentance.
All the gangster films and rap music tell our men that their hearts should be hard, faces stern, disposition mean and treat your women harsh as if they were expendable. Love is a sign of weakness. “Crying is for punks” .but the Qur’an says the righteous cry when they hear the Quran recited. And you can’t save your people if you don’t love your people. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told us he wanted the Fruit of Islam to build character not just muscles. Old World scholars say that the final stage of our religion is called ‘ihsaan’. That’s the stage our faith is in under the Messenger’s teaching. When Prophet Mohammed was asked what is ihsaan he responded “it is to fear Allah as if you SEE Him because if you don’t see him, he is watching you”. Yes He is and so is your brotherhood.
